Will health insurance pay for a breast reduction?
I have a 36H and I would give anything to get a breast reduction, but I don’t have the money for it. I have major back problems because of it, and I was wondering if health insurance covered that or not. I have PPO, blue cross, blue shield. Does anyone know??

If its because of health issues, yes they’ll pay for it.
Every insurance policy is different and it depends on what your policy says. However, if you have a medical reason for needing it and it is recommended by the right doctors, it would probably be covered like any other surgery. Check your policy or call the number on the back of your blue cross card and they will tell you.
The only way to find out is to call BCBS and ask them. Some policies will not cover it no matter what, even if the doctor says it’s medically necessary.
I have worked in health insurance for 8 years, and I have seen thousands of different types of policies.
Other questions to ask:
Do I have a deductible?
What percentage am I responsible for when the deductible is met?
Is there an out of pocket maximum?
(An out of pocket max is the most you will have to pay for medical services for that particular year.)
Are the doctors and the hospital in the network?
What is the coverage for the radiologist, anesthesiologist, and/or pathologist if their services are required?
Is prior notification required?
It depends. I was denied by 2 insurances. Cigna and BCBS of IL. They both told me I wasn’t big enough and didn’t meet the criteria. I fought with both insurances but still was denied. This year, I started a new job and now have Federal BC/BS. I was approved on the spot. They took out 1.5lbs from each side, well over the criteria for the previous 2 insurances. I was a 32DDD/E and I will be a C as soon as the swelling goes down and I finish healing. Right now I am still a D cup. My insurance covered it 100%, but it was a 5 year fight to finally get one and it was the best decision I ever made. I am very happy with the results.
Good luck!

Definitely if you have health issues. Some may be more picky than others, but if you are a healthy weight you should have no problem.
I was slightly overweight, with 38J breasts. Got approved with the only stipulation being 600grams total needed to be removed (they removed over 2000grams!).
I went to a 38C and do not regret it one bit.
