Why can people have breast implants on the NHS, but I have to pay for IVF ?
I had to have both of my fallopian tubes removed, due to a medical condition and so I need IVF to conceive and yet I was only allowed 1 attempt on the NHS and now I can’t afford the £4000 for another go.
Now I have found out that a friend of mine is getting breast implants for free because she is ‘depressed’ about her figure !
Is this fair in your opinion ?

That’s horrible! I just found out that my ins will only cover one treatment as well…AND…I have to have it done at the hospital I work at, if I want it paid for I can’t go anywhere else…just wrong.

I think they figure giving someone breast isnt going to populate the world like letting people try for ivf which actually gives you a chance of mulitplies. I know its not fair cause you dont have the tubes…but im sure thats how the look at it. And Ivf the more you try the more money it costs you only pay for your breast once
Breast implants are a tricky subject. There are reasons that they should be done for the well-being of the patient. If a woman has had a mastectomy (breast removal) from such situations as breast cancer, I think it is totally legit. I think your situation is rejected simply for the fact that there are several other options out there for people who cannot concieve, whether they work or not, or you have tried them or not. It is not, by any means, a fair situation, but as time goes on, it can be assumed this will all change. As far as your “friend” goes, It’s really tough to tell how she acheived approval. It doesn’t seem quite right to me…I have a feeling there is more to it, or there is a loop-hole she happened to stumble on. Either way, it sounds a little fradulent to me!
