UnitedHealthcare contracts
UnitedHealthcare’s local outpost in Concord said late last week it’s inked an extended relationship with Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland that will keep the pediatric hospital in its Bay Area network.
The deal, effective immediately, gives UnitedHealthcare’s commercial health plan enrollees continued, in-network access to Children’s Oakland, officials said.
“Children’s Hospital Oakland is an important provider of health care services in this area, and we know our customers appreciate having continued” access to the facility, Ben Slocum, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Northern California, said in the statement.Tenet Healthcare Corp. will offer care to participants in UnitedHealthcare’s commercial and Medicare Advantage plans.
Under a multiyear agreement, plan members will have access to health-care services at Tenet hospitals, including Brookwood Medical Center in Homewood.
The contract also applies to Tenet’s 59 freestanding diagnostic-imaging and ambulatory-surgery centers. Tenet Physicians Inc., which contracts for more than 400 doctors at Tenet subsidiaries, is part of the agreement.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Dallas-based Tenet (NYSE:THC) owns and operates a network of about 50 acute-care hospitals. UnitedHealthcare is a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) of Minneapolis.
