Last August, after years of routine mammograms with no signs of abnormalities, Laura Caldwell was diagnosed with stage III invasive breast cancer. Doctors explained that her dense breast tissue made it difficult for mammography to detect cancerous tissue in early stages. She received radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and her cancer is now in remission.
