Should I get a breast reduction?
I’m 18 and I have a large chest-36DD. Although I’m not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon, I was just wondering what I can expect to happen to my boobs size wise during pregnancy. I really don’t want them to get any bigger and so this is why I was wondering about surgery. I don’t really like the idea of going under the knife but if I can alleviate some of the problems of having big boobs I’ll do anything. Also, will having a breast reduction interfere with the general pregnancy?

Unless you have breasts so big that it gives you a backache, you won’t be able to get a reduction on the NHS. breast reductions are painful, risky, and you could easily end up with floppy, flaccid, weird looking breasts. Any surgery carries a risk to breastfeeding. If you are a DD, pregnancy could increase them to an E or an F. They will be sore and harder. But this would happen no matter what size you are. I suggest you cross that bridge when you come to it. I think big breasts would be the least of your worries with morning sickness and cramps to worry about.

wait until they are fully developed(meaning wait till you’re 21)
cause they may get bigger, the best age to get a reduction is 21yrs or older. Cause you may grow some more.
Usually women that have breast size DD or more WILL have back problems
I’m a 32G and i NEED a reduction, I’m just scared to go under the knife
The reduction won’t really interfere with pregnancy and giving birth. Depending on what method they would use on you, you have a 50/50 chance of breastfeeding or a great chance of breastfeeding.
Check out http://www.bfar.org about breastfeeding after a reduction.
I went through it Feb 2006 and don’t regret it one bit. If I had to do it again I would.
Your breasts will get bigger with breast milk during pregnancy, however a GOOD PS will ensure you do not stay big after you are done breastfeeding. There are varying answers on if they stay big, or get smaller, or stay the same size pre-pregnancy/post-operative.
IMO if your back is killing you, get it done now. As far as your age, 14 and 15 year olds get breast reductions, so you are at an age where you can get one as well.
Find a PS who will not do a “Free Nipple Graft” to ensure a good chance of breastfeeding after reduction. If you grow bigger and stay that way after breastfeeding, you can always get another reduction (going through the process again).
