i want to come to oc and watch how you work. it is fantastic that you are so true to the people. ilke that much!
With saline-filled implants, sure.
wonder if he would implant his wife or daughters
The problem probably exists but is very rare. That is the point I make by saying I have never seen such a case.
Perhaps you don’t see such cases because, like me, many women do not show symptoms until years after getting implants. I had saline implants and developed severe arthritis similar to RA, along with terrible fatigue and a rash over my neck and chest, beginning 8 years after implants. I had them removed last July, and have shown significant improvement ( rash disappeared ) with all my symptoms. I never went back to my original PS.
After I received implants I became so sick i couldn’t read, drive or wash a dish. I had to quit my job as a graduate level professor and lost a book contract. Yes, I had silicone implants, but I have since met hundreds of women who experienced the same symptoms, previously healthy women whose lived were wrecked, though contrary to what you claimed, most improve significantly if they have their implants removed properly along with the scar tissue. I am now back to writing my book.
Unusual. There are of course patients without implants who develop autoimmune diseases and these diseases do feature spontaneous remission and exacerbation. One case makes it hard to make any conclusions.
Really and in ten years of a plastic surgery practice I have never seen a single such case in a woman who has not been implanted with silicone gel implants. I have only seen one or two in women with silicone gel implants. Why would that be?
Because the thousands you speak of must be far fewer. You are simply inflating the facts. Period.
I have never seen the need particularly with a mostly saline implant patient population.
Dr. Di Saia,
Unfortunately there are women whose bodies react to saline implants as aggressively as if they were silicone. It may not be as common but it happens often enough that is a grave concern. There are too many very sick women to discount, with symptoms the same as those who fall sick from silicone gel.
Dr. Ed Melmed in Dallas Texas, Dr. Susan Kolb in Atlanta or Dr. Lu-Jean Feng in Columbus, Ohio have removed thousands of saline implants from very sick women and can attest to this.

Do you think HLA-DR53 typing would be a good idea before getting implants to see if you are predisposed to having problems ?
Would that provide one with reassurance ?
BTW – If you are here to play the hater game, I will simply delete your post. So shove off.
The hard silicone “cover” of breast implants is very similar to those used in hip prosthetics and other implants with which we have a fifty year experience. If they were all so toxic, we would have seen it in vast numbers by now. We haven’t except in very rare cases.
The silicone gel within silicone-filled implants is different. There we have a small degree (it seems) of agreement.
From the research I HAVE done, all implants are made out of Silicone.
They are just filled with different things.
I will post a list of many of the ingredients that go into the making of silicone for implants.
I am sure the different implants vary in their ingredients somewhat.
They ARE all known neuro-toxins.
I am sure we all react differently, but all in all..they are very toxic and at some point peoples immune system suffers.
Well utola,
While you may have had problems and have obviously attributed them to your implants, how many women with saline breast implants have you met, operated and examined? I have seen hundreds over ten years and none of them complain of these things, so spout your fear mongering elsewhere.
what else are you going to say dr.? saline breast implants support your lifestyle. they DO in fact make many many women ill. i was very ill and had my implants removed in december and have had a total turn around in my health. so you can say what you will. you haven’t had implants, have you? not everyone is allergic to shellfish, but there is a percentage of the population that is. why is it so difficult to think this could be true of implants as well?
