If I get a breast reduction will I still be able to breast-feed my future kids?
When I get married I want to have kids. But I don’t want big boobs so I was thinking maybe I could get a breast reduction. Someone told me that if I get a breast reduction I won’t be able to reast feed my kids. Is this true?
Will they tighten your skin so it doesnt look all wrinkly from being big?

No it isn’t . During the breast reduction surgery they remove a certain quantity of tissue to decrease the size, it has no bearing on your ability to produce milk when pregnant.
Additional details:
Yes, they tighten the skins so that you get a natural looking breast.
I’m not sure, that’s why I’m waiting to get one until after my baby is born. I didn’t want to take the chance. I’m due in January though, so by the time the baby is one or one and a half, I should have my breast reduction. And my back will be thanking me!
Size 38 DD and growing!!
17 weeks pregnant.
actually it can, but usually doesnt. it depends on the skill of the surgeon and on how much of a reduction you want. during the procedure, some of your milk ducts will be severed. this will reduce, but not completely stop your ability to breastfeed. depending on how many ducts are severed is what determines your ability to breastfeed following a breast reduction. many women do breastfeed, but some have run into problems. each case is individualized and as such must be discussed one-on-one with a plastic surgeon.
yes, they will tighten your skin to prevent wrinkles. again, depending on the skill of the surgeon, you probably wont ever be able to notice you had the procedure done.
It really depends. Some women can, some can’t after a breast reduction. Sometimes the ducts and glands are damaged during the procedure, depending on how much tissue is removed.
So, to answer your question, a surgeon will never guarantee that you’ll be able to nurse your babies after a reduction because it’s always a possibility that you won’t be able to do so.
That’s one of the reasons I waited until after I had my children to have a breast reduction done, because they told me there’s no way to know for sure if you will be able to breastfeed after the surgery.
with technology the way it is, my surgeon told me there was no reason why i wouldn’t be able to breast feed after. he also told me there was no guarantee that i would have been able to breast feed before.
i take it as a small price to pay. and i’d rather be happy and healthy and not have any pain.
good luck!
