How old for breast reduction surgery?
I’m almost 15 and a size 32DD bra. I would like to be a C cup, how old should I be to get breast reduction surgery? I’ve heard a range from 15 years old-18 years old (for teenagers, obviously you can still get it done after 18 too). I’d like to get the procedure ASAP

breast reduction surgery is very risky and i wouldn’t recommend you go through with the surgery.
A colleague of mine had breast reduction surgery when she was 16. You can do it whenever it starts hurting your back and give you more issues.
Your breasts can continue to grow up until you’re in your early 20s, so most doctors would recommend that you wait until then.
If you get it too early, you could end up growing more and possibly needing the surgery a second time.
Hi Alia,
I don’t know what fool is giving the decent answers ‘thumbs down’, but whoever they are feel free to do mine too – then feel free to pop out and get a life.
No decent surgeon would recommend breast reduction until after the age where a girl may continue to develop breast tissue – that means early twenties (say 21). Now, don’t panic that that means you’ll definitely continue to grow until that age – you probably won’t – but there’s a chance until then, and you wouldn’t want to go through surgery twice if you are reduced then grow again! A reduction in your mid-teens would only be considered for urgent medical reasons (and you’re nowhere near large enough to have any risk there), or because the surgeon is more interested in money than doing the right thing.
A few other thoughts, which you may or may not find helpful – but feel free to ignore me!
First – you’re really not that big. 32DD may seem huge to you now because they’re new and very different to most girls your age, but in a few years those girls will be all sorts of shapes and sizes, and to many people (male and female) you have the ‘perfect size’ – quite large, but not crazy large, on a slim frame is a fantastic combination, honestly! My ex is a 34F so I do understand that at times larger natural breasts can be inconvenient, but they’re far from all bad. This is another good reason to wait before making any decisions on surgery – you may well find that in a few years you will feel differently about your figure, and may well come to appreciate it much more.
Finally – do not think of surgery as an ‘easy option’. It is not a magic wand – it is serious, invasive surgery with very real risks and side effects, including inability to breast feed, loss of sensation, significant scarring and an unnatural ‘look’ – it does not magically create perfect natural C cups – it takes large breasts and makes them smaller, that’s all. It’s also expensive.
I would really encourage you to take your time, see how you feel in a few years, and in the meantime try to focus on the positives and be proud of your curves just the way they are. Being a 32 band size you can’t possibly be overweight, but if you want to tone up and lose a bit of body fat (breasts are mostly made up of fat by the way, and some glandular tissue and supporting ligaments) try running – it’s really good cardio exercise and will burn fat from all over your body, breasts included, so you may lose a cup size or so.
Hope some of that helps, stay smiley!
i had mine done at 27 years old. i would wait until you are in your early 20′s so you know you are finished growing. i went up 2 cups sizes when i was in college from being on the pill.
i went into college being a 32DD and left college a 32F. now i am a 32C.
