Can you breastfeed if you have breast implants?
I want to get breast implants. I currently have a 32D, but I just like the shape of the implants better. I only plan to go up one cup size because I mostly just want my boobs to not move a lot when I jump and stuff. I can never find pretty bras that fit me right. But, I am a mother of one preemie, and I had to pump my breast milk when he was born because he wasn’t big enough to eat yet. I am really looking forward to having another child and being able to breastfeed. I am ttc, and I really need to know. I know it probably sounds like a stupid question, but there is no point of me going to the doctor and asking about it if I can’t breastfeed. Thank you for your time.

Talk to your plastic surgeon, they can place the implants behind your milk ducts so that you have a better chance of breastfeeding. I think it still is a game of chance though, at least it was when i went in for my consult 3 years ago. but science changes every day, so just ask him at the consult.
It depends. You may ask your doctor if he can try not to cut the ducts when doing the surgery. Some women can after surgery and other can’t. The only way to know is to try after you have the baby.
Maybe you can wait until after baby to get the surgery.
It depends on how the surgery is done….this website goes over it. Its great!
You usually can, but I would wait to get a boob job until you are done having kids, that way the doc can fix anything that mother nature decideds to re-arrange with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Plus, why spend $5K for beautiful breasts when you aren’t done having kids, wait until you’re done and then you’ll only have to get one surgery. Plus if you’re a 32D I wouldn’t say implants are an emergency or necessity!
Properly “installed” implants will have no effect on breastfeeding. Plastic surgeons are trained to avoid any damage to the milk glands and tubules that produce and carry the milk to the nipple. Just make sure you thoroughly research your surgeon – get recommendations from others who have had the implants and then breastfed, for example.
You sure can. A friend of mine had implants and she breastfed 3 children. She didn’t go overboard with the size, so maybe that had something to do with it.
no you wont be able to breastfeed the baby then. its not a stupid quesyion everybody has stuff they need to know about dont be crazy that is not a stupid question but try alot of diff stores then maybe you will find the right bra that you like. its always good to ask questions but im in a 40d and satisfied with then god made you who you are and gave you then for a reason
Most modern breast implants are placed behind the muscle. You will only have a problem if they reposition the nipple or otherwise cut milk ducts. Even then it is possible to breastfeed.
Honestly though by the time you are done breastfeeding your breasts are going to be completely different anyway. But hey whatever works for you!
Even if you get silicone breast implants (not sure on whether these are legal again or not, I heard they were thinking about it). The silicone used in breast implants is the same used in cosmetics, on certain fruit/vegetables and in infant gas drops. In addition formula has AT LEAST 13 times more silicone than that found in the breastmilk of a mother with implants.
There are a bunch of links to articles about it here:

Well, if it helps, I can tell you my situation. I got implants in 1999 (saline, over the muscle). At the time, my surgeon said that bf would not hurt, but he did not recommend it because the implants would sag. Fast forward 7 years, I have my daughter and the choice between sagging breasts and the best thing for my daughter is not even a question. So, of course I go on and start to breastfeed. My daughter was born very small and I had to supplement with formula. I tried to pump in order to boost my supply because of the supplementation, but only about a half an ounce would come out per half hour. Finally, I visited a lactation consultant who told me that my implants may or may not be a factor in my milk supply. She did add that many women with implants breastfeed just fine and my low supply could be the because of many factors. I would discuss this at length with several docters to further assess your decision.
