Breast Enlargement Can Effectively Increase The Female Breast

Breast size and contour can be effectively increased through breast augmentation, or breast enlargement, surgery. Breast Augmentation (mammaplasty) usually is done to enlarge small, underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have become smaller in size after childbearing. Patients with marked sagging of the breasts can be recommended a breast surgery procedure to reshape and lift the breasts by a board certified plastic surgeon.
Mammaplasty is performed under an intravenous, local, or general anesthetic depending upon the plastic surgery technique and your preference of anesthesia . In the pre-surgery consultation, this is to be chosen by you and your cosmetic surgeon. The consultation is one of the most important steps in receiving any cosmetic surgery procedure. You and your plastic surgeon will talk about your breast size and what you expect your breast size to be following the surgery in the consultation. Your surgeon will tell you what he or she thinks is the best option, and often your plastic surgeon will show you a digital photo of how you could potentially look after your procedure.
In the fold under the breast, around the bottom half of the areola, or in the underarm area, a small incision about two inches in length is made. Next, the plastic surgeon will make a pocket directly under the breast tissue, or underneath the chest wall muscle depending on the surgeon’s technique and the patient’s anatomy. Then a breast prosthesis or implant is inserted into this pocket. A membrane of scar tissue around the device forms as your body heals to hold it in place. To close the incisions, many sutures are needed. This procedure sometimes takes one to two hours.
During consultation with your plastic surgeon, any concerns about the safety and current status of breast implants and questions about the technique and the type of breast implant to be used, will be discussed.
Following breast enlargement surgery, an elastic bandage and dressing is used for about a week. Within a day you can be up and about, but you should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity for approximately four to six weeks. After the operation, there is a possibility that your breasts may be discolored or swollen. Within a few weeks bruising will disappear and swelling will also disappear after a few months. Firmness in the breasts might also be noticeable for a few weeks following breast enlargement surgery. With time, this too should diminish. An extra surgery may be needed to soften firm breasts caused by excessively tight scar formation, a procedure called capsular contracture.
