anyone here had a breast reduction and breast feeding without a problem?
I had a breast reduction when I was 19 years old. I am now thirty and expecting my first baby in three weeks. I would love to be able to breast feed, but I hear stories that some mothers are not able to do so because of the reduction.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. All you can do is try, it really depends if the doc left the right parts intact.
I know a girl who had a breast reduction, and she could not breast feed because her milk ducts had been cut.
Is it possible for you to ask the surgeon who performed the reduction? His office may be able to tell you.
I believe it depends on how your reduction was done. I agree with getting a hold of the surgeon who preformed the reconstruction, if you can, or at least see if you can get a hold of your medical records. Hopefully, there will be information in there that can help you.
I would also contact an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) as well. They’re more informed about breastfeeding than pretty much any other medical professional. If you need help getting a hold of your surgery records, you can contact an IBCLC and see if they can contact the office where your records are and get a hold of them, too. She might be able to help interpret the records as well.
There’s also a book specifically about breastfeeding after breast reduction surgery. You might want to check it out: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0912500867/ref=nosim/kellysattachm-20
